The Scientific Services Division (SSD) provides services including complex chemical analyses, problem-solving, and investigative and collaborative research projects. These activities involve the environment, public and occupational health, emergency response, state-based industries and State development. The Division also provides analytical and consultative services to Government Departments and commercial agencies involved in health administration, agriculture and highly specialised analytical and advisory services.
About the role
ChemCentre is seeking an experienced and proactive Laboratory Administrative Support Officer to provide high‑level administrative, secretarial and office management support within our Scientific Services Division (SSD).
Reporting to the Director, Scientific Services Division, this role supports the effective operation of laboratory activities and contribute to the continuous improvement of administrative processes that supports ongoing development of SSD.
The position undertakes day-to-day activities related to purchasing, invoicing, recordkeeping, supporting client engagement, and providing administrative and financial administrative support services.
The successful applicant will have well developed communication and problem-solving skills and demonstrate the ability to manage competing priorities and work with minimal supervision. You will be proficient in using Microsoft Office applications and other information management systems.

This is a permanent full-time position
Suitable applicants may be considered for like positions within 12 months from the date of finalisation of the selection process.
The position is located in Building 500, Resources and Chemistry Precinct, Manning Road, Bentley.
Eligibility
To be eligible for a permanent position, Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency is essential.

Prior to commencing employment, a National Police Clearance and Fitness for Work (alcohol and drug testing) will be required for a successful applicant.

Essential Criteria 1: Demonstrated experience providing a high level of secretarial and/or administrative support with the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion.
Essential Criteria 2: Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to produce accurate written correspondence and communicate effectively in a team environment with people at all levels, including the general public.
Essential Criteria 5: Demonstrated organisational skills including attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities, multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively with minimal supervision.
