Environmental Officer.
Join the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) as an Environmental Officer and contribute to the development and implementation of environmental policies and procedures that support the Environmental Protection Authority’s assessment processes. In this role, you’ll review scientific studies and technical documents, assist with policy and procedures development, and work closely with technical experts, senior officers and multidisciplinary project teams. Your work will help ensure sound, evidence‑based environmental decision‑making across a range of projects and initiatives.
You will also build productive relationships across government and with external stakeholders, supporting effective service delivery and contributing to continuous improvement of systems and processes. The position provides opportunities to develop your project management skills, support strategic initiatives and participate in work that strengthens environmental assessment, approvals and regulatory outcomes. This role is well suited to someone with an interest in environmental science, policy development and collaborative problem‑solving.
In this role, you will:
- Contribute to the development, review and implementation of environmental policies, procedures, guidelines and strategies through research, analysis and collaboration under supervision.
- Review and interpret scientific studies and technical documents to inform the review and development of policy and procedures work to support the environmental impact assessment process.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships across government and with external stakeholders to support informed advice, collaboration and service delivery.
- Provide policy and project support within multidisciplinary teams to strengthen environmental assessments, regulatory outcomes and strategic initiatives.
