This is a recruitment process for a Fixed Term Part Time appointment at 60.8 hours per fortnight, with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.

We are currently seeking an innovative and enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to provide clinical research leadership and consultancy to nursing, medical and allied health professionals for the Nursing and Midwifery Research Unit. This position will work with the multi-disciplinary Haematology and Medical Oncology research teams to initiate, implement, and assist with coordination of clinical trials and research projects that contribute to new knowledge and supports evidence-based best clinical practice within these specialties.

The role will assist with nursing related trial requirements including, but not limited to, staff education, review of nursing elements with each trial, participation in site initiations, development of trial implementation plans and development of required policy, procedure, and resources. The role will provide clinical support for administration of trial drugs and protocol assessments, as required. The CNS is also responsible for integrating clinical and research areas, contributing specialist knowledge and expertise, and delivering quality patient care by developing standards of practice, implementing changes to clinical practice, education of staff and conducting research and quality improvement activities.

Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) is a 783-bed tertiary hospital offering a range of health services including the State Rehabilitation Service, a comprehensive cancer centre, purpose-built mental health unit, maternity, paediatric and neonatal services, and the State Adult Burns Service. FSH also delivers specialised services such as heart and lung transplantations and hyperbaric medicine.

SMHS delivers quality, safe and effective hospital and health services within a catchment area stretching more than 3300 square kilometres across the southern half of Perth.

Are you eligible? To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments).

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
