About The Role:

As a Senior Procurement Manager, you will play a pivotal role in guiding complex, high-risk procurement activities that directly influence outcomes across the Department - and the State!

This role works at a strategic level, developing business cases, procurement plans, and tender documentation; leading evaluations; shaping contract management approaches; and navigating negotiations with confidence.

You will interpret and apply procurement policy, champion better practice, and partner with stakeholders to design solutions that are commercially robust, compliant, and aligned to departmental needs. You'll also play a leadership role in uplifting capability by mentoring procurement practitioners and contributing to the development of procurement frameworks, standards, and process improvements.

This is a role for someone who thrives in complexity, exercises sound judgement, and can connect the dots across policy, practice, and stakeholder expectations to deliver high-quality procurement outcomes.

About You:

We are on the lookout for enthusiastic and committed procurement professionals to join our leadership team. If you bring a strong mix of strategic procurement experience, commercial insight and stakeholder‑focused delivery, we want to hear from you!

In particular, we are looking for candidates who have:

  • Broad experience across procurement and/or contract management, enabling you to confidently lead complex and high‑risk procurement activities from planning through to contract award and ongoing management.
  • Strong conceptual, analytical and problem‑solving skills, enabling you to navigate ambiguity, assess risk, and develop value‑for‑money procurement solutions that align with public sector frameworks and support business objectives.
  • Well‑developed communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills, enabling you to engage effectively with stakeholders, influence decision‑making, and deliver a customer‑centric procurement service.
  • A collaborative and adaptive leadership approach, enabling you to mentor others, build capability, and contribute to a positive and outcomes‑focused team culture.

This position operates in the context of Leading Others. This means that you will motivate and enable others to deliver high quality work. You will balance time between doing the work and coaching, guiding and developing others. This requires a significant shift in thinking from ‘doing’ to supporting others to ‘do good work’; and consideration of present and future needs when allocating time to the team and projects you lead. You will articulate how work is to be done, providing clear direction and feedback.

How to Apply:

If you have what it takes to be part of our dynamic and forward-thinking team, submit the following in MS Word or PDF format only:

  1. A comprehensive CV up to four (4) pages that shows your skills, experiences and key achievements, including the contact details of two referees (with one being your current or most recent supervisor).
  2. Cover letter of up to two (2) pages or less, outlining how you meet the below statement relating to the role and demonstrating leadership behaviours:
  • Describe how your experience and capabilities demonstrate your ability to provide expert procurement and/or contract management leadership in a complex, high‑risk environment, including your approach to developing high‑quality documentation, engaging effectively with stakeholders, and delivering customer‑centric outcomes.

Please ensure you apply before the closing deadline as we won’t accept late and incomplete applications.
