This is a Fixed-Term
18-month contract open to candidates who are seeking a
position as a Registered Nurse Student Midwife who are eligible and
will be concurrently completing a credentialed NMBA postgraduate
midwifery university course for the duration of the contract.
Commencing July 2026 or February 2027.
Students who are currently enrolled and commenced
in a postgraduate midwifery course are not eligible to
apply.

Eligibility to
Apply: Australian citizenship or permanent residency

permanent positions in the public sector. To be successful in this
position, candidates must be available to work 64 hours per
fortnight and have a minimum of three years of post‑graduate
nursing experience.

Position
Profile: The Registered Nurse Student Midwife
will be responsible and accountable, under the supervision of a
Midwife, for the midwifery care of allocated women and babies. They
will be responsible for achieving theoretical course objectives and
clinical competence at a beginning Midwife practitioner level while
concurrently undertaking a postgraduate midwifery university
course.
Registered
Nurse Student Midwives will have the opportunity to gain experience
and knowledge in the Midwifery Antenatal Clinics, Antenatal
Assessment Unit, Birth Suite, Postnatal ward and on the Visiting
Midwife Service.
The
Registered Nurse Student Midwife practices within their scope of
practice considerate of the Nursing and Midwifery Board’s Midwifery
Practice Decision Flowchart.
