This
is a Recruitment Pool for Fixed Term Full Time and Fixed Term Part
Time appointments for 6-12 months with the possibility of
extension(s).
Suitable
applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be
made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from
this pool until
30/09/2026.
Position Profile:
Since opening in early Feb 2015, FSH
ED has developed into a high functioning unit that is the busiest
ED in the state, and one of the busiest in Australasia. It
has a diverse case mix including complex medicine, obstetrics,
burns, cardiothoracic, paediatrics, neonates and transplant
medicine.
The
ED has 85 beds including a 15-bed resuscitation area and a separate
paediatric area. The department saw over 110,000 presentations in
the last year, with 25 per cent of those being paediatric. As such,
this department provides an excellent opportunity for paediatric
skill development. We are a pro-active department that manages a
very high acuity caseload with over 1800 priority 1 ambulances per
year. Access to procedures is high, with our emergency staff
independently performing over 225 intubations, 70 central lines,
450 procedural sedations and 300 major joints or fractures per
year.
The
Senior Registrar role includes a combination of supervised shifts
working with an Emergency Physician and supervisory shifts running
a pod within our ED as the senior doctor.
In
addition to the clinical component of the position, we provide
opportunity to develop the Senior Registrar’s non-clinical
skills.
The
ED has a comprehensive TS4 and OSCE teaching program, in addition
to active emergency medicine academic, toxicology and ED ultrasound
units with training opportunities for Senior Registrars and
Registrars. Interested Senior Registrars should indicate if
interested in a special skills post, combining clinical ED time
with non-clinical duties such as ED Education and Simulation, ED
Geriatrics, Research and Ultrasound.

(FSH) is a 783-bed tertiary hospital offering
a range of health services including the State Rehabilitation
Service, a comprehensive cancer centre, purpose-built mental health
unit, maternity, paediatric and neonatal services, and the State
Adult Burns Service. FSH also delivers specialised services such as
heart and lung transplantations and hyperbaric medicine.
