Senior Registrar - Intensive Care
This
is a Recruitment Pool for Fixed Term Full Time and Fixed Term Part
Time appointments for 6-12 months with the possibility of
extension(s).
Suitable
applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be
made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from
this pool until 30/09/2026.
Position Profile:
Senior Registrar - Intensive Care
provides inpatient care within one of the Western Australian
Intensive Care Units at Fiona Stanley Hospital, Royal Perth
Hospital or Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.
Please
note: whilst all efforts will be taken to allocate you to your
preferred site, first preference placement cannot be guaranteed.
Requests to rotate between sites will also be
considered.
- The
position will require the provision of high quality and patient
centred care to all Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in-patients under
the supervision of the Duty Intensivist within a
multi-disciplinary team.
- The
applicant is to work within their ability and according to the
Hospital’s mission & core values.
- Provision
of support and teaching to Registrars and Resident Medical
Officers within the ICU.
- Review
and provision of advice for patients referred from the
Emergency Department, hospital wards and referring
hospitals.
- Participation
in the ICU teaching and education program, quality assurance
activities and handover processes.
Area Profiles:
Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) has a 40 bedded level 3
ICU providing tertiary ICU care for all patients in the South
Metropolitan Health Service and related WACHS catchment area. FSH
is the primary referral centre for the Western Australian Advanced
Heart and Lung Failure Service as well as the WA Cardiopulmonary
Transplant Service.
Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) has a 20 bedded level 3
ICU providing tertiary ICU care (with the exception of cardiac
surgery) for all patients in the East Metropolitan Health Service
and the related WACHS catchment area. RPH is the primary referral
centre for Western Australian Major Trauma and Spinal Injury
Service.
Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) is a 30 bedded
level 3 ICU providing tertiary ICU care for all patients in the
North Metropolitan Health Service and related WACHS catchment area.
SCGH is the primary referral centre for the Western Australian
Liver Transplant service and the Western Australian Neurosurgical
service.
