About The Role
The Senior Risk Advisor plays a critical role within the Office of Major Transport Infrastructure Delivery, leading the development, implementation, and coordination of risk and issue management processes across the division’s programs and projects. Reporting to the Manager Program Management Office, you will provide both strategic oversight and hands on leadership to ensure risk practices align with PTA governance frameworks and legislative obligations.
In this role, you will manage and maintain program and project risk registers, oversee risk governance compliance, and coordinate the review of risks, controls, and treatment action plans with accountable owners. You will ensure risk information is accurately documented, traceable, and integrated within PTA systems.
You will lead the delivery of risk management training and provide expert advice on rail safety assurance, working closely with compliance, assurance, and delivery teams. The role also supervises a team of Risk Advisors, providing professional leadership, coaching, and capability development. This position is ideal for an experienced risk professional who can balance technical expertise with stakeholder engagement in a complex, high profile infrastructure environment.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Bring substantial experience in risk and issue management within a project, infrastructure, or regulated environment, supported by a relevant tertiary qualification.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of AS NZS ISO 31000 risk management principles, audit practices, and governance frameworks, with experience as a Lead Auditor or Auditor.
- Have proven ability to design, implement, and integrate risk management frameworks across programs and portfolios, including quantitative risk analysis techniques.
- Be a confident leader with the ability to mentor and coach others, build organisational risk capability, and influence managers and project teams.
- Possess well developed written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, enabling you to provide clear advice, prepare high quality reports, and engage effectively with senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrate sound analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify emerging risks, assess impacts, and develop practical mitigation strategies aligned to organisational objectives.

There is currently one fixed term opportunity until 31 October 2029 available for an immediate start with the possibility of renewal and/or permanency. Applicants assessed as suitable through this process may also be considered for similar vacancies on a fixed term or permanent basis that may arise within the next 12 months.
