JOB DESCRIPTION:

Are you?

A highly organised and adaptable administrator with an interest in public administration?

We are looking for a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to join us in supporting the Legislative Assembly's Committees.

As an Administrative Assistant, you will see Western Australia’s Parliament up close. You will work with committee staff and Members of Parliament to support meetings, hearings and inquiries, and help ensure the smooth operation of committee activities. Our ideal candidate will have strong administrative skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

About the job

The Assembly Committee Office provides administrative, research and executive support to committees of the Legislative Assembly. Our staff work with Members from across the political spectrum and engage impartially and professionally in support of committee inquiries and oversight activities.

In this role, you will provide high-quality administrative and reception support to the Legislative Assembly’s Committees. Your duties will include managing correspondence and records, formatting and publishing committee documents, coordinating travel and hearings, and responding to enquiries from Members of Parliament, witnesses and members of the public.

Working in a parliamentary environment can be challenging, and successful applicants should expect peaks and troughs in workload based in part on the Parliamentary sitting calendar. In return, you will be offered daily exposure to the operations of Parliament and a level of independence unique in the public sector.

The Legislative Assembly offers generous employment conditions and a range of workplace benefits including onsite parking, a gymnasium, and access to Health and Wellbeing initiatives.

The current opportunity is for a 12-month fixed-term full time contract role. Suitable applicants may be considered for other similar vacancies within the next 12 months.

The attached job description form contains more information about the role.
