About The Role
This role provides senior operational leadership and critical support to the Depot Manager at Claisebrook, contributing to the effective, economical and innovative management of Transperth Train Operations (TTO) depot activities. Operating within a complex, high‑risk environment, the position plays a pivotal leadership role in ensuring railcar movements, depot operations and service delivery are coordinated safely, efficiently and in line with network priorities.
The role leads day‑to‑day depot operations, providing clear direction and oversight of railcar allocations, yard movements, service coordination and stakeholder engagement with Network Control, maintenance contractors and special event teams. In addition to driving operational performance, the position leads workforce management activities including rostering, timekeeping and payroll coordination, while actively promoting a strong safety, accountability and teamwork culture. Acting as the responsible officer in the absence of the Depot Manager, this role exercises authority and sound judgement to ensure continuity, compliance and high performance across all depot operations.
About You
To be successful in this role you will: -
- bring substantial experience and/or knowledge of a rail operations environment, with practical working knowledge of Public Transport Authority Safeworking procedures.
- have a strong understanding of occupational safety and health principles, along with relevant PTA Industrial Awards and Agreements, and can confidently interpret and apply these in an operational setting.
- demonstrate well‑developed leadership capability, including the ability to motivate and support staff, take control during serious incidents, and work autonomously using initiative and sound judgement.
- be an effective communicator with proven interpersonal, mediation and conflict‑resolution skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- possess strong problem‑solving and computer skills, with experience using rostering and timekeeping systems and proficiency in common office applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel.
