About us
The Department of Treasury and Finance is at the centre of Government decision-making. As the principal economic and financial advisor, we provide leadership and strategic advice and influence to support the delivery of services and outcomes for the benefit of Western Australia.
What we do is integral to the Government’s decision-making processes about where and how to spend taxpayer’s money to ensure Western Australians have access to quality services on a financially sustainable basis.
We lead procurement and leverage our buying power to secure products and services for government, achieving value for money for WA.
We collect revenue to fund government services and administer payment of grants and subsidies to the WA community.
The work area
This role sits within the Aboriginal Affairs Coordination Unit (AACU), part of the Strategic Policy and Evaluation business unit in the Treasury function of DTF. The AACU provides a central advisory role on issues affecting outcomes for Aboriginal people and communities, including Closing the Gap and Native Title. Central to AACU’s work is a commitment to meaningful engagement, ensuring Aboriginal perspectives are heard, valued and reflected in government decisions.
The opportunity
Are you passionate about Aboriginal policy development and engagement? We are looking for a motivated and experienced professional to join us and make a difference for Western Australia. In this role, you will:
- Provide strategic leadership in the development and review of Aboriginal policies, strategies, frameworks and reforms, ensuring outcomes that support Closing the Gap, sustainability, and value for money.
- Lead meaningful engagement with Aboriginal stakeholders and key government agencies, building strong relationships and ensuring Aboriginal voices inform government decision making.
- Cultivate a high performing, collaborative team culture by empowering staff, encouraging innovation and fresh thinking, and promoting open communication to support strong, sustainable team outcomes.
We currently have one (1) permanent full-time position available for filling within the Aboriginal Affairs Coordination Unit.
