We are seeking to establish a pool of Deputy Principals for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Beenyup Primary School (PS) proudly opened its gates in 2020 as an Independent Public School in the fast-growing town of Byford, Western Australia, and caters for children from Kindergarten to Year Six. The name of our school acknowledges the original Noongar name of Byford and means ‘place of water’.

The Role

We are seeking dynamic and dedicated Deputy Principals who ideally demonstrate highly collaborative leadership and a strong commitment to excellence in primary education. The role entails commitment to leading sustainable whole‑school improvement with student achievement at its core. The Deputy Principal will work closely with the Principal and Leadership Team to ideally provide high-quality educational leadership within the school and broader community. This includes leading a strong performance and development culture with high expectations, accountability and distributed leadership across the school. It also includes the delivery of the School Plan through decision-making, policy development, and the monitoring systems that align with the school's overarching priorities.

In addition, applicant’s key attributes and responsibilities ideally should include:

  • Exceptional communication skills and strong personal acumen.
  • Maintaining a positive school culture that promotes respectful relationships, student wellbeing, and strong engagement with parents and caregivers.
  • Support the effective day-to-day operation of the school, including staff and student wellbeing and proven ability to implement positive behaviour strategies.
  • Skills in supporting diverse learners and ensuring inclusive practices.
  • Strengthening and supporting teaching teams to deliver high‑quality low variance practice.
  • Lead evidence-based, high impact instruction in literacy and numeracy including:
    • Science of Reading approaches such as University of Florida Literacy Institute (UFLI) and paired fluency routine as part of an effective whole school Reading Strategy
    • Teaching for Impact Quality Teaching Strategy
    • Data literacy

Overall, the Deputy Principal serves as a key figure for educational leadership and operational effectiveness within the school.
