What is our Senior Occupational Therapist
role?
Due to winter
demand strategies, new initiatives and staff movements, Sir Charles
Gairdner Hospital has multiple Senior Occupational Therapy
positions on the horizon and are seeking experienced OTs to join
our well-established acute service. You will provide assessment,
intervention and discharge planning for inpatients and/or
out-patients as part of a multidisciplinary team across our core
areas of function, cognitive impairment, falls, pressure and home
environment.
This is a
rare opportunity to work within a high-performing department,
supported by a P3 Coordinator and experienced leadership team, with
access to a diverse caseload, structured supervision, education,
and conference opportunities. SCGH offers clear professional
pathways across clinical, research, and leadership
streams.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver
advanced, evidence-based care in an acute setting-assessment,
intervention, and complex discharge planning.
- Provide
expert consultancy to the MDT in functional independence, falls
prevention, pressure injury management, delirium/ cognition and
home environment and build capability across the OT
team.
- Lead and
supervise junior staff and students; contribute to high-quality
supervision and facilitation of learning.
- Drive
improvement-contribute to service development, quality
initiatives, and translation of evidence into
practice.

- Emergency
Department - Care Coordination Team (CCT) OT-providing
comprehensive assessment to determine patient suitability for
discharge from ED vs admission to hospital. Includes a focus on
hands, geriatrics/ frailty, back pain and falls.
- CCT
2Home - a home visiting service that follows patients
from ED to home to support safe transition, connect care, and
reduce readmissions.
- Hospital in the
Home (HiTH) - a new program providing acute,
hospital-level OT care at home, supporting early
discharge.
- Cancer
services - including Oncology, Haematology and
Palliative Care inpatients and out-patients as part of the WA
State Cancer Service.
- General Medical
and Surgical - including Medical Assessment Unit and
ward OT services across a diverse and complex
caseload.
- Leave
Relief position as part of our highly valued, flexible
