An opportunity
exists for a talented and enthusiastic Clinical Nurse to join the
Public Health Unit servicing the population of
Carnarvon.
Carnarvon, WA, is a coastal
town 900 km north of Perth, nestled between the Indian Ocean and
Gascoyne River. Known as the food bowl of Western Australia, it
produces tropical fruits like bananas and mangoes. With a semi-arid
climate, it offers warm winters and hot summers. Attractions
include the Carnarvon Space and Technology Museum, Quobba Station’s
blowholes, and Kennedy Range National Park. Its Coral Coast
location makes it a gateway to Ningaloo Reef. Outdoor enthusiasts
enjoy world-class surfing at Red Bluff and Tombstones, plus
excellent fishing, kite surfing, and spearfishing in this
laid-back, adventure-rich destination.
In this role, the
successful applicant will:
- Work
closely with the public health team, hospital clinicians,
relevant key stakeholders, primary health care providers and
external agencies in the case management, documentation and
follow-up of clients with notifiable diseases.
- Participate in vaccine
preventable and other disease control programs including
planning, surveillance, contact tracing, appropriate and timely
follow-up of disease notifications and Western Australian
Notifiable Infectious Disease Database (WANIDD)
maintenance.
- Participate in
epidemiological surveys and other duties as
required.
- Act as a
role model in the provision of care to patients.
- Assists
in the facilitation of professional development for community
and service providers in the region.
Position
Profile:
In collaboration with the
Public Health workforce supports the provision of public health
disease control programs in the region. Ensures timely case
follow-up, contact tracing and outbreak investigation including
liaising with relevant health agencies and key
stakeholders.
