About the
Role
Tenure: Fixed-term,
full-time for a period of 12mth, with the possibility of extension
and/or permanency.

The Strategy, Performance and
International Engagement Group is the driving force behind the
Department’s strategic direction, aligning policy, planning,
evaluation and communication to deliver impact and keep Government
priorities front and centre. It also leads the State’s investment,
trade and international engagement agenda, positioning Western
Australia for growth, innovation and global opportunity.
As the Senior Policy
Officer you will develop, coordinate and evaluate policy
initiatives that advance the State’s economic diversification
agenda. You will undertake research and analysis to provide
high-level strategic advice aligned to the Government’s Diversify
WA and Future State: Accelerating Diversify WA economic development
framework that help steer the State’s economic future. You will
design innovative, evidence-based policy options, assess them
against required outcomes and ensure they align with Government
priorities and the public interest.
Your role will include preparing
high-quality reports, briefs and submissions that inform
stakeholders and contribute to whole-of-government initiatives. You
will also support the Department’s engagement with the Commonwealth
Government on shared priorities in economic development,
diversification and resilience, industry development and strategic
policy, providing clear and coordinated advice that strengthens
intergovernmental collaboration and outcomes for the
State.
You will manage and deliver
complex policy projects, lead project teams when required, and
coordinate work across the Department and with external
stakeholders. You will build and maintain productive relationships
across the Department and with external partners, collaborating
widely to achieve strategic outcomes and advance the State’s
economic development agenda.
Success in this role comes from
demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement and policy,
strategy or industry development. You bring strong research and
analytical capability, with the ability to translate complex
information into clear advice that supports strategic
decision-making. You communicate with clarity and confidence,
producing high‑quality written material and engaging effectively
with stakeholders. Most importantly, you know how to build
collaborative relationships that deliver results.
