We are seeking to establish a pool of Mathematics Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Aveley Secondary College (SC) opened in 2018 and is a large secondary school catering for Year 7 to 12 in Perth’s Swan Valley. The College is recognised as a school of choice with high expectations and standards, a progressive approach and a commitment to excellence.

Teaching and learning at the College is a focus (with Explicit Direct Instruction the signature pedagogy) supported by a rigorous behaviour curriculum and systems to support conditions for learning in the classroom. Teachers are supported by professional development and coaching in these key areas. Aveley SC's collaborative approach to pedagogy has been recognised as best practice through the Grattan Institute and teaching staff have been filmed by the Australian Education Research Organisation (AERO) as examples of best practice. A central feature of the college is strong teams with an extensive repertoire of curriculum resources. Suitable applicants will ideally have the following attributes:

  • Good interpersonal skills and capacity to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Capacity to build good relationships with all students
  • Commitment to our signature pedagogy of Explicit Direct Instruction
  • Capacity to plan curriculum, including scope, sequencing, and lesson design collaboratively
  • Knowledge of the Mathematics curriculum, experience with the delivery of remediation numeracy programs or delivery of senior school courses is desirable
  • Strong teaching and classroom management skills, including Classroom Management Strategies
  • Data analysis skills and evidence-based planning to improve literacy and numeracy results for all students
  • Confidence in the use of ICT in the classroom
  • Engage in reflective practice, informed by classroom observations, student feedback surveys and close examination of student performance.
