This is a 48 month fixed term, full-time position commencing ASAP with possible extension and/or permanency

The Aboriginal Teaching and Learning Directorate leads, influences and supports cultural responsiveness across the organisation to drive system transformation. We support effective leadership and teaching to build culturally responsive schools that create the conditions for Aboriginal students and families to experience cultural safety. We develop resources and professional learning to help build the professional capability of school and system staff. We provide advice and guidance to influence system strategy and policy, and whole-of-government priorities and initiatives that support and strengthen the cultural safety, wellbeing, engagement and learning of Aboriginal children and young people.

The Role

The Senior Consultant provides advice and guidance to schools and Department staff to support culturally responsive approaches, including strengthened engagement with Aboriginal families, communities and organisations. In this role, you will assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of strategies, initiatives and approaches and contribute to the development of resources and professional learning to support and strengthen student wellbeing, engagement and learning.

The successful applicant will have the ability to think strategically, understand national and state strategic directions and apply these in your role. Applicants should have highly developed written communication skills and demonstrated experience in the preparation of complex advice to senior management.
