
Piara Waters Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of highly competent and collaborative Education Assistant – Mainstream for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Piara Waters PS opened in February 2012 catering for students in Kindergarten to Year 6 and is located in the suburb of Piara Waters (South Metropolitan Education Region). It is one of the largest primary schools in the state, and staff benefit from working in a large, collaborative team, to continually build their knowledge. The Role
We are ideally looking for Education Assistants with a passion for working with students and staff, to improve student outcomes. Suitable applicants should be able to work effectively with students, and small groups of students, to ensure everyone has access to the curriculum. You will be required to assist with the general care and wellbeing of students.
The ability to be flexible, exercise initiative and work as part of a team will be highly advantageous. Suitable applicants should have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and develop professional and collaborative relationships with all staff. In addition to working with students, you will need to undertake preparation work for the teacher and assist in ensuring a safe and engaging physical learning environment.
Suitable applicants should also have a strong knowledge of a range of evidence-based techniques for learning (particularly literacy and numeracy) and behaviour. Knowledge or experience in working with students with English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) is desirable.
As suitable applicants will be working in Kindergarten and Pre-Primary classrooms, they should have an understanding of the National Quality Standard in Early Childhood and understand how to support and create the conditions for effective learning in the early years.
