ICT HR Systems are seeking to establish a pool of Principal Systems Officer for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2026 and up to the end of, April, 2028. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
The Education Business Services (EBS) branch delivers essential professional business services and support to Western Australian public schools, statutory boards and departmental divisions, with a strong focus on finance, ICT and infrastructure. EBS is committed to continuous improvement, ensuring its staff, systems and processes remain responsive, flexible, transparent, accountable and collaborative to effectively meet the diverse needs of its customers and support high-quality education outcomes.
Within EBS, the Integration, Build and Deployment Directorate oversees the development, integration and maintenance of ICT solutions, including application security, architecture, testing and data management. The HR Systems Team, operating within this environment, manages and supports the Department’s HRMIS and related systems, ensuring payroll accuracy, data integrity, system security and user access. The team also provides system administration, maintenance, enhancements and user support to ensure HR systems remain reliable, secure and aligned with organisational requirements.
The Role
The role is responsible for the effective administration, monitoring and continuous improvement of the Department’s HRMIS from an application systems perspective. It involves analysing and enhancing HR business processes, designing and implementing system improvements, and contributing to project management activities related to legislative, policy and operational changes. The position also undertakes research, resolves complex system and operational issues, and ensures the integrity, performance and optimal utilisation of HR systems.
The role provides critical support to the branch by ensuring HRMIS solutions align with enterprise architecture, security and governance requirements. It oversees system administration, access control, data security and compliance with statutory and organisational policies, while contributing to strategic planning and continuous service improvement. The position also promotes best practice, supports change initiatives and fosters a safe, inclusive and high-performing work environment.
In addition, the role maintains strong client and stakeholder relationships by providing expert advice to leadership and collaborating with internal and external partners. It represents ICT in relevant forums and works across the organisation to support informed decision-making, promote service capabilities and achieve desired business outcomes.
