As a Graduate Performance Auditor, you’ll learn how to be professionally nosy – asking the right questions, digging into how public sector programs, services and activities operate, and identifying where changes can improve how they are delivered.
Commencing in February 2027, our 12-month program offers hands‑on experience across a range of performance audit topics, opportunities to contribute to evidence‑based recommendations, and the chance to see how your work can influence real improvements across WA State and local government.
About us
The Office of the Auditor General (OAG), is WA’s independent auditor of public sector finances and performance. Our role is to build transparency, trust, and accountability, ensuring public services work effectively for the people of Western Australia.
As part of the Performance Audit team, you’ll work to identify opportunities to improve public services, brief Parliament ministers and analyse the performance of government programs and services. Your findings and recommendations will help Parliament make informed decisions and drive meaningful change for WA communities.

There are two positions available for our 2027 Performance Audit Graduate Program.
Graduates are employed on a 12-month fixed term basis with the possibility of extension or permanency based on work performance and funding availability. All suitable applicants will be placed in a recruitment pool. This pool will be valid for 12 months and may be used to fill similar permanent and fixed term contract positions during this period. Please note being placed in the pool does not guarantee you a position.

To be eligible, you must:
- Have graduated in 2025 or be on track to complete a university degree by the end of 2026 in any discipline including but not limited to arts, science, law, economics and commerce
- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident at the time of applying
- Be available to commence in February 2027.

Throughout the recruitment process, you will be assessed against the Suitability Requirements outlined in the attached Job Description Form (JDF).
Shortlisted candidates must be available on 29 May 2026 for an in-person assessment centre and interview at our Perth CBD office.
