This is a Fixed Term Part Time appointment at various hours per fortnight until 30 June 2028, with the possibility of extension(s).

Position Profile: The Health Promotion Officer is a skilled public health professional with a strong understanding of evidence‑based health promotion practice within a primary health care setting. The role requires a strategic, community‑centred approach to improving health and wellbeing, supported by strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and analytical capability. This includes demonstrated knowledge and practical application of recognised health promotion frameworks and methodologies, including socio‑ecological models, population health approaches, and primary health care principles. The role applies health promotion theory to plan and deliver initiatives that address health determinants, reduce inequalities, and support prevention and early intervention across diverse community settings.

The Health Promotion Officer will collaborate with the Community  Health Team to provide equitable and culturally sensitive service to clients.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support improved health and well-being of clients through appropriate and culturally sensitive services.
  • Work collaboratively within the Community HealthTeam to provide health navigation support to clients/families, including understanding health rights e.g., use of interpreters, accessing health care services, and improving client health literacy.
  • Act as a resource or cultural advocate when required or assist clients to advocate on their own behalf.
  • Cultural mediation to bridge gaps between refugee families and healthcare providers.
  • Providers Practical support for service access, such as booking appointments, paperwork, and transport.
  • Advocacy for culturally inclusive services, ensuring the health system is responsive to refugee needs
