About the Roles

We are seeking four outstanding senior executives to lead major programs, drive reform, and deliver strategic outcomes that support Western Australia’s economic growth and diversification.

These roles require proven leadership of complex portfolios, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to influence across government, industry, and global partners.

The focus of each role is as follows:

Group: State Development and Project Facilitation

Executive Director Project Facilitation and Approvals Reform (JTS24003): leads the delivery of major strategic projects while driving reforms to create a faster, more coordinated approvals system that strengthens Western Australia’s economic competitiveness. The role integrates project facilitation with regulatory reform to attract investment, accelerate infrastructure delivery, and support key sectors such as renewable energy and critical minerals.

Executive Director Industrial Land Activation (SD090024): drives the strategic planning, development, and activation of the State’s industrial land portfolio to support economic growth, industry development, and sustainable job creation. The role is responsible for ensuring that Strategic Industrial Areas are project-ready, infrastructure enabled, and aligned with whole of government priorities, enabling Western Australia to respond effectively to emerging opportunities in advanced manufacturing, renewable energy, defence, critical minerals, and downstream processing.

Group: Science and Innovation, Industry and Corporate Capability

Executive Director Industry Investment Programs (JTS25073): shapes the design, governance, and delivery of over $1.6 billion in grants, loans and equity programs that underpin Western Australia’s economic diversification and industry growth. The role ensures public investment is strategically targeted, transparent, and fiscally responsible, integrating Government priorities with effective funding delivery across sectors.

Group: Strategy, Performance and International Engagement

Executive Director Global Network (JTS25072): leads the effective operation of the State’s Invest and Trade WA Global Network and the development of strategic Ministerial missions and international partnerships in support of Government’s economic development priorities. Operating across 13 international markets, including oversight of the Investment and Trade Commissioners, the role ensures the State maintains a coordinated, strategic and commercially effective presence overseas.

To be successful for these positions, you need to demonstrate: 

The core leadership behaviours outlined in Public Sector Commission’s Leadership Expectations  framework. For these positions the context of Multiple Area Leader is about leading teams to achieve the strategic direction of several different business areas and to implement the associated operational strategies.

As a senior member of the executive team, it is expected that you will champion the Department’s principles within an environment of transparency and accountability and operate within the Public Sectors Code of Ethics.
