About
the role:
The Stan Perron Immunisation
Centre (SPIC) and KKIND are seeking a Coordinator of
Occupational Therapy to join their multidisciplinary team
and help create safe and supportive healthcare experiences for
children. This unique role combines clinical expertise, leadership,
and service development to support children experiencing needle
anxiety and Paediatric Medical Traumatic Stress (PMTS).
This role offers a mix of
direct patient care, leadership in developing PMTS resources, and
opportunities to shape the future of paediatric immunisation care
in Western Australia. You will work alongside a dedicated team,
provide staff education, and provide consultancy for paediatric
medical trauma, research, and evaluation - contributing to a
culture of learning and innovation.
Key responsibilities
include:
- Providing specialised
therapy, assessment, and intervention for children facing PMTS
within the immunisation clinic and needle anxiety
clinics.
- Leading
service development, education, and training programs for
staff, caregivers, and community stakeholders to promote
trauma-informed care.
- Consulting with
multidisciplinary teams, contribute to state-wide resources,
and co-design innovative approaches with families to improve
patient care.
- Playing
a key role in research and evaluation, ensuring evidence-based
practices are implemented to enhance services.

About
the Keeping Kids in No Distress (KKIND) service
The KKIND (Keeping Kids
in No Distress) Team provides assessment, intervention and
clinical review for children who are experiencing anxiety and
distress related to illness, injury or hospitalisation and promote
trauma informed care throughout the hospital.
Our dedicated team work
closely with medical, surgical, nursing, and allied health teams to
make the hospital environment more manageable for children through
integrating KKIND principles with routine care across the
hospital.
