About the Position

The position is responsible for leading and coordinating the Arbitration Service on behalf of WorkCover WA.

The Registrar, and the Arbitration Service, exercises statutory functions in accordance with the provisions of the Workers Compensation and Injury Management Act 2023 (the Act).

More specifically, the role will undertake a range of duties including:

  • Leading a team of Arbitrators in the delivery of a high-quality dispute resolution service
  • Providing guideance, mentoring and coaching to ensure consistency and quality of decision-making by WorkCover WA Arbitrators
  • Performing the functions of an Arbitrator in accordance with the Act
  • Engaging the effective consultation with stakeholders for the development and review of the Arbitration Rules and practice directions/guidelines
  • Completing and coordinating the necessary Continuing Professional Development to maintain a Practising Certificate.

To be eligible to apply, prospective applicants must be an Admitted Legal Practitioner of not less than five years standing as defined by the Legal Profession Uniform Law Application Act 2022, with relevant post-admission experience.

The successful candidate will be required to obtain an Australian Practising Certificate prior to commencement.
