Eligibility to Apply: To be eligible for appointment,
applicants must have a valid working visa (for fixed term
appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or
have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for
permanent appointments).

Whilst this selection process will initially
be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill
other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service. In
addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate
the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may
also be selected from this process. The successful applicant will
have the opportunity to move between teams within the Licensing and
Accreditation Regulatory Unit to support the functions of the
team.
Position Profile: On behalf
of the Department of Health, the Licensing Accreditation and
Regulatory Unit regulates private health facilities in accordance
with the Private Hospitals and Health Services Act 1927 and the
Human Reproductive Technology Act 1991. The Principal Consultant
role is responsible for identifying and addressing the key
regulatory issues and priorities for continuous improvement of
LARU's processes; focusing on but not limited to building
regulation standards / guidelines and approaches to monitoring and
addressing these in partnership with all key stakeholders. The
successful applicant is also responsible for developing and
maintaining the systems and processes used in LARU; developing
policy and providing advice on key regulatory policy issues to
enable the Unit to achieve required outcomes. To ensure delivery of
operational objectives, the successful applicant is required to
work across various LARU teams, including fulfilling functions and
duties at comparable levels, in other LARU teams.
