We are currently seeking an innovative and solutions-focused Director Medical Services to join our team at Kalgoorlie Health Campus.

This a recruitment for one Fixed Term Full Time contract for up to 5 years with the possibility of extension(s).

About the role:

As the driving force behind medical teams, including Heads of Department for various specialties, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest clinical standards through championing patient-centred care. You will provide day-to-day operations management, clinical governance, and leadership at Kalgoorlie Health Campus. This role provides leadership for the Goldfields Medical Workforce and Medical Education teams with a particular focus on Kalgoorlie Health Campus Medical Staffing, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, the community and Central Office Medical Services.

As a key member of the Kalgoorlie Health Campus leadership team, you will work in partnership with the Directors of Nursing and Midwifery, Chief Medical Imaging Technologist, Chief Pharmacist, and Manager of Allied Health. You will directly report to the District Director Northern Goldfields, however you will also work collaboratively with the Goldfields Regional Director Medical Services (RDMS) and WA Country Health Service (WACHS) Executive Director Medical Services (EDMS) for clinical governance and clinical practice improvement.

Your involvement will be instrumental in enhancing departmental capabilities and making a tangible difference in patient care through cutting-edge initiatives. By fostering a solutions-focused and financially sustainable collaborative environment, you will contribute to meaningful service delivery improvements and projects that have a lasting impact on patient outcomes.

With a population of more than 50,000, the Goldfields region faces unique healthcare challenges, with 13% identifying as Aboriginal. Your role will be crucial in addressing health disparities and improving health outcomes in this diverse community.

Remuneration:

Important Notice: Specialists holding Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practice (FRACGP) or Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) may be deemed suitable for the role. However, please note that your contract will be issued at the appropriate classification level based on your General Practice qualifications rather than the Medical Administrator scale as detailed in the AMA Industrial Agreement 2024.

About the Region:

The Goldfields-Esperance region is located in the south-eastern corner of Western Australia and is the largest region in the state with a land area of 771,276 square kilometres. The region is three times the size of the state of Victoria and just under a third of Western Australia's total land mass. The character of the Goldfields-Esperance region reflects the unique Aboriginal culture, the legacies of early mining and agricultural pioneers and a multi-cultural history of interstate and international migration.

The region includes Western Australia's Golden Outback which stretches from the rugged red earth of the Northern Goldfields and Great Western Woodland to the pristine white beaches and turquoise waters of Esperance and the South Coast.
