hours per fortnight. Fixed term appointments include the
possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.
We currently

Equivalent).
What
is our Clinical Midwife role?
You will be
employed as a Clinical Midwife leading the midwifery and doctors
antenatal clinics in King Edward Memorial Hospital. You will be
expected to work in all the different antenatal and obstetrics
clinics with the outpatient team, including graduate midwives,
student midwives and doctors.
The
successful applicant will provide clinical leadership and advanced
professional expertise to ensure comprehensive evidence-based
midwifery care is delivered to patients. This includes working as
part of a multidisciplinary team and facilitating and promoting
patient safety and quality of care in line with the NMHS Vision,
Mission and Values.

In mid-2006,
as part of the health reform in Western Australia, King Edward
Memorial Hospital (KEMH) joined with other women’s-based health
services to form the new Women and Newborn Health Service (WNHS),
which is a part of the larger North Metropolitan Area Health
Service (NMHS).
With
dedicated staff and best practices based on the most current
evidence-based medicine, WNHS continues to deliver first-class
health care to women and infants in WA.
KEMH is the
State's only tertiary maternity and gynaecological hospital and
treated its first patients in 1916. Today more than 6000 births
take place at the hospital every year and it is WA's only major
referral centre for high-risk pregnancies. KEMH also has a
state-of-the-art Special Care Nursery, designed to care for
premature and sick infants.
KEMH also
cares for approximately 5000 women with gynaecological conditions
each year - from urological and cancer related problems to sexually
transmitted diseases and reproductive disorders.
WNHS also
offer a maternity and gynaecology unit at Osborne Park Hospital
(OPH) which provides gynaecology care and obstetric care to women
with low to moderate risk pregnancies. Women may choose to receive
care at OPH for general convenience whilst receiving equally
specialised care at a smaller suburban site.
WNHS manages
several statewide services such as BreastScreen WA, and other
specialist programs for women and babies.

Eligibility
to Apply: Australian citizenship or permanent residency is

contract.

selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy,
it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout
the health service. In addition to this, should the successful
applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next
most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process.
Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12)
months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment
decision.
