About the Role

Main Roads is seeking organised, motivated, and passionate planning professional to join our Road Access and Planning team based in East Perth. This role involves managing a diverse range of planning matters and would suit someone who thrives in a collaborative, government-focused environment.

We are seeking two (2) energetic and innovative leaders to join our team as Road Access and Planning Managers, based in our East Perth office. These are pivotal management roles responsible for overseeing the formal assessment and review of planning referrals and delivering balanced outcomes that meet the need of stakeholders.

While a background in urban planning is preferred, transport planners are strongly encouraged to apply.

Working across government and with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, this position is ideal for an enthusiastic professional who is committed to coaching, mentoring, and developing team members, while contributing to high-quality planning outcomes. You will be responsible for providing high‑level advice on a wide range of planning matters, including land-use zoning, subdivisions, developments, structure plans and local planning scheme amendments.

The successful candidate will bring sound knowledge and experience in interpreting and applying legislation, policies, procedures, and standards relevant to transport planning. You will also demonstrate:

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Highly developed negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
  • A proven capacity to achieve balanced and pragmatic planning outcomes.
  • Strong critical thinking, research, and problem-solving skills.
