Paralegal - Pool Recruitment

PSCA 2024, General Division Level 3, up to $89,226 gross per annum + super + benefits

This pool recruitment process will be used to fill permanent, fixed term, full time and part time vacancies that may arise over a period of 12 months from the date of finalisation of the recruitment process. Fixed term appointments may be made with the possibility of extension/s and/or permanency.

About the role

The Lawyers Engagement Network (LEN) division is responsible for the assigning of legal aid grants to private practitioners and in-house staff. The role requires strong organisational skills  and the ability to prioritise in a fast paced environment.

As a Grants Officer, you will assess a high volume of applications for legal aid across family, criminal and civil, assisting a wide range of vulnerable clients throughout Western Australia.  You will bring a positive, can-do attitude and a collaborative approach to supporting the team, while developing and maintaining strong working relationships with practitioners acting for legally aided clients.

About you

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to apply guidelines when assessing applications for legal assistance;
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities with a high volume workload;
  • A demonstrated commitment to access to justice, with an understanding of the complex barriers faced by vulnerable clients;
  • Experience working collaboratively in a team environment to deliver timely and high-quality outcomes for clients.
