We are
seeking our next Senior Social Worker (SSW) superstars to join our
team in this diverse and rewarding role. Utilising advanced
clinical social work skills, you will assess and respond to complex
psychosocial presentations within the adolescent and young adult
(AYA) inpatient and outpatient settings. Working within, at times,
an emotionally challenging space, you require highly developed
therapeutic skills in responding to distress, grief and loss. You
will receive opportunities to develop specialist core and advanced
practice skills in a secure and supportive work
environment.
About
this role
The SSW
practices within a multidisciplinary team to assess, formulate and
respond to the psychosocial needs of AYA patients and families. The
SSW performs a clinical function to support patients by conducting
thorough psychosocial assessments, utilising evidence-based
approaches and models to formulate sound interventions. The SSW
also performs a strategic and coordination function to support
patients by facilitating the Youth Cancer Advocacy Committee (YCAC)
and associated advocacy work at the local and national level and
establishing and maintaining vital stakeholder relationships that
contribute to the development and growth of AYA cancer support
networks, along with the provision of Supervision to junior/student
social workers.
The WA YCS
is part of Cancer Network WA and is based in the You Can Centre
within the WA Comprehensive Cancer Centre at Sir Charles Gairdner
Hospital. It is a statewide service and outreach to hospital sites
across the metropolitan area will be required.
This process
may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the
health service. In addition to this, should the successful
applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then another
suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both
options remain valid for a period of 12 months from when the
authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
