The Opportunity
As the Senior Child Safety Practitioner Aboriginal Intensive Family Support (50(d)) (Child Safety Qualified Stream Level 2), you will be responsible for engaging and working with identified at risk Aboriginal families to prevent the need for children to enter out of home care. In this role, you will also be responsible for assisting and planning with District staff and others to develop community and family capacity to provide a safe environment for children and other vulnerable people which is key to the role.
As the Senior Child Safety Officer Aboriginal Intensive Family Support (50(d)) (Child Safety Unqualified Stream Level 3), you will responsible for engaging and working with identified at risk Aboriginal families to prevent the need for children to enter out of home care. The role is key to assisting with the planning with District staff and others to develop community and family capacity to provide a safe environment for children and other vulnerable people.
The aim is to strengthen families’ capacity to provide safe care by increasing child safety through the Intensive Family Support approach providing intensive in-home support services and case management for Aboriginal children in ways that are:
- practical and flexible;
- in alignment with the Department’s case plan with the family;
- in accordance with the Children and Community Services Act 2004, and
- responsive to the cultural needs of the family.

Qualification Requirements
You must have a Bachelors degree in Social Work, Psychology, or relevant human services area to be eligible for the Senior Child Safety Practitioner - Aboriginal Intensive Family Support (50(d)) position.
