What’s on Offer?
Deadly Pathways is an 18-month Aboriginal employment program with the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure (DTMI). Starting in May 2026, you’ll begin part-time in a Level 1 role, building core skills such as communication, Microsoft Office, personal financial literacy and understanding DTMI’s workplace systems.
After six months, you’ll step up into a Level 2 position for 12 months, with the option to go full-time. You’ll take on more responsibility and gain real on-the-job experience across key business areas, strengthening your practical skills and workplace confidence.
Throughout the program, you’ll receive monthly one-on-one support from our Youth Coordinator, focusing on mind mapping, goal setting and career planning.
Based at various DTMI locations across Perth Metro and Regional Centres, starting roles include:
- Driver and Vehicle Services (Perth Metro Based- Licencing Centres –Service Delivery Trainee Level 1
- Maritime (Perth Metro Based) - Business Administration Support Trainee – Level 1
- Regional Services (Regional Service Centres Locations) - Business Administration Support Trainees Level 1

How does this program work?
As part of the Deadly Pathways Program, you will:
- Spend the first 6 months as a Business Administration Support Officer roles or a Service Delivery Trainee Role in a level 1 positions, thereafter.
- Move into a designated Level 2 position for a further 12 months completing the remainder of the program.
- Receive ongoing support throughout the program, our Youth Coordinator will be there to help you learn, grow and feel confident in your role.
- You will be supported by key partners delivering foundational skills training, personal financial literacy development, and culturally safe welling support across the 18 months, ensuring you are equipped with practical skills, knowledge and personal support needed to succeed.
While ongoing employment at the end of the program is not guaranteed, Deadly Pathways is designed to position you as a strong, competitive candidate equipped with the skills, experience and confidence to step into future opportunities.
