About The Role:
The Assistant Director Business Data & Intelligence is responsible for leading the department’s data analysis and business intelligence functions to support evidence based decision-making and continuous improvement. The role oversees the development of high-quality reports, dashboards and data models that provide clear insights into business performance, emerging trends and opportunities for improvement across the department and the wider sector. It provides specialist advice on contemporary data analysis practices, business intelligence methodologies, data governance and integrity, and the application of advanced analytics. The role also builds capability within the team through cross skilling and maintaining awareness of evolving technologies, ensuring the delivery of a comprehensive and reliable data reporting service.
About You:
You are a strategic data leader who can translate complex analytical concepts into clear insights. You bring deep expertise in business intelligence, data governance and contemporary analytics practices, applying these to deliver meaningful outcomes at both operational and strategic levels. You excel at shaping a forward‑looking data capability by leveraging emerging technologies and best‑practice methodologies to strengthen the department’s analytical maturity. As an experienced people leader, you build high‑performing, adaptable teams and foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
This position operates in the context of Leading Leaders. This means you will be required to deliver results through leaders and your teams in a single business area, and by influencing leaders in other business areas. You will add value by providing direction and developing and coaching your leaders to achieve operational objectives. You will make decisions about how services should be provided based on the resources at hand.
