Position
Profile: The Patient Safety and Clinical Quality
Directorate is seeking an experienced change agent, with a depth of
understanding of regulatory stewardship, and proven effectiveness
in operational delivery. To be successful in this role, you will be
a strategic thinker and communicator with personal integrity and a
high degree of personal empathy. The successful applicant
will need to comfortably operate across a spectrum from compliance
to stewardship to where necessary, advocacy, for the interests of
WA patients.
Working across multiple
teams with a regulatory function in the Patient Safety and Clinical
Quality Directorate, the Director Regulation and Compliance plays a
key role in delivering the Department’s regulatory functions to
ensure the safety of clinical services provided to WA patients in
established and emerging therapeutic areas and setting the
environment to foster a robust and thriving private sector
operating alongside the public health system to provide timely,
safe and effective care for patients.
The role leads a reform
program to build capacity and improve the private and public sector
interface, to ensure community health needs are met, and also
provides leadership, direction and oversight in the strategic
development and monitoring of systemwide accreditation standards,
and program assurance. You will build strategic relationships with
public and private health service providers, WA health
stakeholders, national bodies and key government agencies to ensure
the effective delivery of strategic outcomes.
This position is a member of
the leadership team for the Patient Safety and Clinical Quality
(PSCQ) Directorate and wider Department of Health Extended
Leadership Team. The role therefore requires the incumbent exhibit
technical expertise across the breadth of the portfolio; the
ability to navigate dual roles as a regulator and service provider;
high interpersonal skills, collaboration and teamwork; and the
ability to develop and implement strategy.
You will work with the
Executive Director, PSCQ; other members of the PSCQ executive team,
the Department of Health extended leadership team; to support and
where appropriate lead, the delivery of the Directorate and
Department’s priorities. As a member of the PSCQ executive team,
positively contribute to the Directorate’s culture and functioning
as a high reliability organisation; and support professional
development of Directorate staff. Given the intersectional nature
of regulation and compliance work within PSCQ units, it is expected
that this position will actively support regulation and compliance
efforts across the entire PSCQ directorate.
