Health Service (SMHS) is recruiting to the pivotal and career
defining role of Executive Director for the Fiona Stanley and
Fremantle Hospitals Group.
This is a Full -Time Fixed -
Term appintment up to 5 years.
The Executive
Director of Fiona Stanley Fremantle Hospital Group (FSFHG
or the Group) is a pivotal role in the public health system,
responsible for the delivery of high-quality health care across one
of the largest hospital networks in WA with over 7,500 staff and a
$1.9 billion budget.
The responsibility for
operational leadership across FSFHG’s expansive service base
demands a strong focus on performance, resource and activity
management, combined with a collaborative leadership approach that
engages and supports diverse teams across multiple service
streams.
Advancing collaboration
across the SMHS hospital and health service network is a priority
for SMHS, with the Chief Executive intending to introduce a Chief
Operating Officer role. The ED FSFHG would report to this new role
and support the enhanced focus on shared performance and service
delivery objectives across the wider health service.
To enable this shift in
strategic focus, SMHS is on an exciting journey to become a
world-class leader in continuous health care improvement. Our
partnership with international health care leaders Virginia Mason
Institute is helping us build our own unified, future-focused
system that empowers every member of SMHS to contribute to
excellence.
The ED FSFHG will champion
the SMHS Improvement Method to create a shared way
of learning and leading that is underpinned by SMHS being
Collectively One, Locally Led. In leading this new
approach at FSFHG, the ED will support and enable the workforce to
achieve success and ensure our patients are the focus in our
commitment to making care safer, more consistent, and a positive
experience for every patient.
Fiona Stanley
Hospital (FSH) is a 950-bed tertiary hospital offering a
range of medical and surgical inpatient and outpatient health
services. There are multiple specialities and statewide services
including the State Rehabilitation Service, State Adult Burns
Service, a medihotel, a comprehensive cancer centre, maternity,
paediatric and neonatal services, heart and lung transplantation
service and hyperbaric medicine.
Fremantle Hospital
(FH) is a 320-bed specialist hospital focused on providing
high-quality aged care, mental health, secondary rehabilitation,
planned surgeries and medical services.
Collectively, SMHS has over
12,000 staff and a $2.9 billion budget, with a service area
stretching more than 3,300 square kilometres in the southern half
of Perth and across Western Australia via our statewide
services.

Eligibility
Are you
eligible? To be eligible for appointment, applicants must
have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be an
Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and
work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent
appointments).

selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy,
it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout
the health service. In addition to this, should the successful
applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next
most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process.
Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12)
months from when the authorised delegate endorses the
recruitment decision.
