 This is an Open-Ended Recruitment Pool for Permanent and Fixed-Term positions working Full-Time hours. Fixed Term appointments have the possibility of extension and/or permanency. 

We currently have vacancies for Medical Record Officers at Next Step’s Integrated Community Alcohol and Drug Services (CADS). The integrated sites are Thornlie, Midland, Innaloo, Joondalup, Fremantle, Rockingham, Mandurah and DAYS (Drug and Alcohol Youth Service). At the time of the advertisement placing, we have vacancies at Thornlie, Rockingham, Midland and Mandurah however candidates are encouraged to express interest in sites of their preference.

Position Profile: We are currently seeking dynamic and enthusiastic individuals to appoint to Medical Records Officer positions with Next Step Drug & Alcohol Services. In this position, the successful applicant/s will be responsible for providing an efficient and effective medical records and support service in accordance with appropriate standards. In undertaking the role of this position, the occupant will need to recognise that there is a commitment to focussing on the needs of the individual, their families, carers or advocates working in partnership for better outcomes in relation to mental health, alcohol and other drug issues. Key duties of this role include, but are not limited to;

  • Retrieves medical records and other information in response to routine and urgent requests (including research/audit) from authorised departments/personnel;
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and ensures relevant storage areas are secure and organised;
  • Undertakes duties required to ensure efficient running of reception services, including operating switch board, or greeting clients.

The East Metropolitan Health Service (EMHS) comprises an extensive hospital and health service network that aims to maintain and improve the health and wellbeing of more than 670,000 Western Australians in its catchment area.
