Suitable applicants from this process will be placed in a pool from which temporary and/or permanent appointments may be made. The pool will operate for a period of 12 months from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.

There are currently three (3) permanent positions and one (1) fixed-term position across various levels available for immediate filling.

The Delivery and Policy Division
The Delivery and Policy Division provides strategic leadership and coordination to ensure whole-of-government priorities are effectively delivered. It is structured under two Groups: Delivery Unit and Policy. Together, these functions enable the Department to provide independent, evidence-based advice and ensure alignment between Government decision making and the delivery of Government priorities. 

The Opportunity
This is an exciting time in the Department of Premier and Cabinet! We have reshaped our policy teams to set ourselves up to deliver on the Government’s priorities for the next four years: jobs, health, housing, safe and inclusive communities, environment, and infrastructure and services. To help drive this vision, the Department will play a central role in coordinating delivery across government.

We are seeking motivated and talented individuals to join our dynamic teams across various policy areas. In these roles, you will contribute to whole-of-government initiatives and provide advice on policy initiatives, drawing on best practice and robust analysis. You will apply your critical thinking and well-developed research and analytical skills to inform evidence-based policy and use your communication skills draft high level documentation and support project delivery. A strong team spirit and collaborative approach to achieving outcomes will ensure success in these roles.

We have multiple opportunities within the following areas:

Energy Policy: contribute to the development of strategic, evidence-based policy to support WA’s renewable energy future. With a focus on energy system transformation and decarbonisation the team works across government, industry, and communities to drive the transition to renewable energy and green industry.

  • Level 5: Policy Officer

Social and Health Policy:
develop and coordinate strategic policy advice and support the Government to deliver the sustainability and ongoing reform of critical systems, particularly health, disability, mental health and early childhood.

Intergovernmental Relations:
contribute to the WA Government’s engagement with the Australian Government, states, and territories to advocate for WA’s interest at the national level and support the delivery of WA priorities. This includes providing advice to support the Premier’s participation in key intergovernmental forums, including National Cabinet; proactively influencing national reforms with diplomacy; negotiating high value and/or sensitive agreements; and driving collaboration across the WA Government to bring together whole-of-Government advice on national issues.
