Do you want to be a part of the Smiling Starts team, our mission is to improve the oral health of our youngest community members in Western Australia. 

This is a Recruitment Pool for Permanent Full Time, Permanent Part Time, Fixed Term Full Time, Fixed Term Part Time, and Casual appointments. Fixed Term appointments will be made with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.

This is an “open-ended” recruitment pool, and as such the following should be noted:

  • The panel will monitor this recruitment pool for applications, and will assess on a regular basis.
  • Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. 
  • Appointments may be made from this pool until 30/06/2026.

What is our Dental Therapist/Oral Health Therapist role?

Dental Therapists / Oral Health Therapists (ECDP) provide dental care and oral health promotion to the youngest members of our WA Community and their families within the Smiling Starts program. As part of the new program, Dental Therapists / Oral Health Therapists receive referrals from child health nurses and other networks to provide dental care to eligible patients.

In this role, you’ll be part of a passionate team bringing this program to life in our communities.

You will:

  • Build meaningful connections with families, carers, and key community partners to support positive oral health habits from the very beginning.
  • Deliver fun, engaging preventive programs in a variety of community settings, using the Smiling Starts messages and resources to inspire families.
  • Provide high quality oral health screening and dental care for eligible children, following DHS and Smiling Starts program policies to ensure safe, consistent, child focused care.

  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency is an essential requirement for applicants to be considered for permanent positions in the public sector. To be eligible for a fixed term appointment you must have documentary evidence of your entitlement to live and work in Australia for the period of the contract.
