About the role
The Coordinator Career Taster Programs plays a pivotal role in building early career awareness for Year 9 students. The position leads the planning, coordination, promotion and delivery of activities that introduce students to VET training options, industry pathways and future career opportunities. The role also supports Portfolio staff in designing and delivering high‑quality taster programs.
To succeed in this role, you will bring strong knowledge of post‑secondary pathways, the ability to work independently, and well‑developed interpersonal, communication, negotiation and analytical skills.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing the Career Taster Program, engaging internal stakeholders and relevant industry and community groups.
- Building and maintaining partnerships between SM TAFE, schools and industry to deliver activities that inspire students to become “career curious”.
- Working with external agencies to coordinate a calendar of career events and expos for students and schools.
- Creating and promoting online and VR career exploration opportunities, including webinars and industry presentations.
- Managing the Year 9 Career Taster Program calendar, communicating schedules to schools and overseeing bookings.
- Providing regular reporting on milestones, outcomes and emerging issues.
- Delivering high‑quality support to business and industry partners and establishing feedback processes for continuous improvement.
- Undertaking additional tasks and projects aligned with the role’s responsibilities.
