POSITION PROFILE
Our Advanced
Trainee positions are accredited for up to 12 months of
Advanced Training in General Medicine including Acute General
Medicine (6-month applications will also be considered).
Trainees are based in Broome and provide outpatient clinics and
inpatient support across the Kimberley region, including
hospitals, remote community clinics, and Aboriginal Health
Services. Up to one-third of workdays are spent outside Broome,
with travel by road and aircraft, including light
aircraft.
These roles
offer extensive experience in rural, remote, and Indigenous
medicine, as well as community-based care. Trainees will work
with a team of passionate and experienced physicians, managing
patients with complex chronic comorbidities such as rheumatic
heart disease, autoimmune diseases, and infectious diseases
rarely encountered in tertiary settings.
The general
medical clinics offer broad exposure to subspecialties, and
trainees will also attend dedicated Hepatitis/HIV, Respiratory,
and Diabetes clinics, along with Immunology and Haematology
case conferences. You'll collaborate with visiting
subspecialists in cardiology, nephrology, rheumatology.
Supervision
is provided by dedicated general medical consultants with
special interests in respiratory medicine, diabetes, rheumatic
heart disease, viral hepatitis, and obstetric medicine.
Trainees work closely with primary care providers and
multidisciplinary hospital teams, with opportunities for
clinical audit and research projects.
Out-of-hours
work is minimal, offering plenty of time to enjoy the natural
beauty of the Kimberley.

ROLE ELIGIBILITY
To be
eligible, the successful applicant will hold current
registration as a medical practitioner with Australian Health
Practitioner Regulation Agency and be eligible for Advanced
Training in General Medicine in 2026 (including successful
completion of RACP Part 1 and Part 2 exams). Subspecialty
advanced trainees doing dual training in General Medicine are
strongly encouraged to apply.
You must have
successfully passed the FRACP written and clinical examinations
at the time of interview and will have successfully completed
all requirements of Basic Physician Training by the start of
the 2026 advanced training year.
ATTRACTIVE REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS
- North 26 Parallel Registrar
Yr 1-3 $178,223 to $194,926 p.a. pro rata* and HSMP Yr 1-6
$364,873 to $460,699 p.a. pro rata ( Includes base salary,
professional development allowance, and 12% employer
contributed superannuation). Renumeration is subject to the
candidate’s level of applicable skills and
experience.
- Salary packaging: Up to
$9,010 for living expenses + $2,650 for meals
- 12%
superannuation
- Subject to conditions, as an
Advanced Trainee, you will be eligible for relocation and
accommodation allowances.

commitment to teaching and the ability to provide teaching,
supervision and training support.
- Demonstrated communication
