About the role
Join the Public Transport Authority (PTA) as an IT Systems Engineer and help keep our critical technology running smoothly. You’ll install, maintain and support Windows and Unix servers, monitor performance, resolve issues, and ensure our systems remain secure, available and up to industry best practice. You’ll also stay up to date with emerging technologies and maintain clear, high‑quality documentation for all systems.
In this key role, you’ll provide expert technical support, build strong relationships with stakeholders and deliver customer‑focused service within the ITIL framework. You’ll contribute to system improvements, continuity planning and major technology projects, playing an important part in shaping the PTA’s IT landscape.
About You!
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- Demonstrated possession of an information technology qualification or considerable recent experience in server support activities, including the design, installation, administration and troubleshooting of server, network, information security, operating system and personal computing technologies.
- Demonstrated experience supporting Storage Area Networks, backup and recovery solutions, virtualised server environments, and modern hardware and software standards, along with a sound understanding of current data security standards and practices.
- Well‑developed conceptual and analytical abilities, including the capacity to interpret technical information, analyse data, and prepare reports. Highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and meet agreed targets and deadlines. Proven experience delivering high‑quality client service within an ITIL service delivery framework.

There is two permanent full-time opportunies available for immediate start.
This is a pool recruitment process where suitable applicants will be placed in a pool for 12 months. Applicants assessed as suitable through this process may be used to fill similar vacancies both fixed term and permanent that may arise within the next 12 months.
To be eligible to work permanently at the PTA you must be either an Australian Citizen, have Permanent Residency status or hold a current visa with permanent working rights in Australia.
