About the opportunity

In this key leadership role you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of road network performance strategies and optimising traffic performance across the metropolitan State road network. You will manage the identification and analysis of network deficiencies, determine appropriate intervention levels, and oversee the delivery of network performance targets to improve efficiency and safety for all road users.

The role requires managing the monitoring and reporting of network performance, including timely and accurate analysis to support projects and improvement initiatives. You will also manage resources to deliver operational modelling, visualisation and network operations analysis to support senior management, area and route managers.

You will provide strategic leadership for the network performance function, leading teams within the Traffic and Road Network Performance Branch and ensuring the Area, Route and Traffic Signals Management model is clearly defined and effectively implemented. This includes establishing performance baselines, embedding operational policies and strategies, and fostering collaboration for continuous improvement outcomes.

You will build and maintain strong professional working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including facilitating forums with network area managers, route managers, traffic signals staff and technical authorities to review network performance and drive improvement initiatives across all modes of transport. The role also involves maintaining an understanding of industry best practice and emerging trends, and providing strategic advice to enhance the sustainability and performance of the metropolitan road network.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Strong experience in managing road network performance and traffic performance on the road network
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including leading multi-disciplinary teams and managing employee performance and development
  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategies, policies and frameworks that improve network efficiency and safety
  • Experience overseeing operational modelling, data analysis and performance reporting to support decision-making.
  • Well-developed stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills, with the ability to lead forums and work across organisational boundaries
