About to Role

We are seeking a Ministerial and Government Business Manager to join Main Roads Western Australia. The role provides expert leadership and advice to ensure the effective management of ministerial and government business, including the delivery of accurate, timely and high-quality responses to ministerial correspondence, parliamentary enquiries, briefing notes and requests for reports, in line with government standards and expectations.

In this role, you will manage and coordinate all ministerial and government business functions for Main Roads, providing expert advice and solutions on complex and sensitive matters. You will oversee the development and implementation of quality assurance processes, ensure compliance with required standards and protocols, and provide clear feedback to internal stakeholders to drive continuous improvement in ministerial and government business practices. The role also involves preparing high-level advice and reports for the Commissioner of Main Roads and the Managing Director on Main Roads initiatives and activities, including how these support government objectives and commitments, as well as processing and closing out outstanding ministerial and parliamentary correspondence.

You will lead and manage the branch, including the provision of executive support, and act as the functional expert on ministerial and government business protocols, processes and procedures. This includes providing tactical guidance on matters requiring a high level of sensitivity and sound judgement. You will also be responsible for managing employee behaviour, performance and development to support our high-performing team.

A key aspect of the role is building and maintaining strong, collaborative and professional relationships with the Minister’s Office, the Transport Portfolio, other government agencies and key internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and trusted partnerships.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership capability, expert knowledge of ministerial and government business, and a proactive approach to collaboration, governance and continuous improvement, playing a key role in supporting Main Roads’ executive and government commitments.
