We are seeking motivated and experienced Lecturers to join our team across a range of in-demand fields across Resources & Logistics, including:

  • Automotive Electrical
  • Automotive Mechanical
  • Aviation (Remote Pilot)
  • Project Management
  • Rail Infrastructure
  • Rail Signalling
  • Surveying

We are establishing a 24 month appointment pool for vacancies that may arise. We may offer permanent, fixed term, full time, part time or casual appointments, with the possibility of a further term and/or permanency.

About the role

As a Lecturer, you will be at the forefront of delivering high-quality training that combines practical skills with industry relevance. Your role will involve inspiring students, facilitating engaging learning experiences, and mentoring future industry leaders. You’ll contribute to developing a skilled workforce ready to meet industry challenges with confidence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Deliver clear, engaging, and practical instruction tailored to industry standards
  • Facilitate hands-on learning experiences that prepare students for real-world applications
  • Assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and support
  • Mentor and inspire students to achieve their career goals
  • Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices through ongoing professional development
  • Contribute to curriculum development and industry engagement initiatives

Relevant Qualification and Experience

Candidates should possess relevant industry qualifications and experience, such as: 

  • For Automotive Electrical:
    Required: Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology or similar, 5 years’ experience working in the automotive electrical industry
  • For Automotive Mechanical:
    Required: Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or similar, 5 years’ experience working in the automotive industry as a technician
  • For Aviation (Remote Pilot):
    Required: Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA)-certified Remote Pilot Licence (RePL), experience working with Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA)
    Preferred: Certificate III in Aviation (Remote Pilot), experience in using RPA in the agriculture or surveying industries, a background in aviation or related industries
  • For Project Management:
    Required: Diploma or above in Project Management, currently employed in a position directly associated with Project Management
    Preferred: experience working in project management in the construction industry, local government, health or resource sector
  • For Rail Infrastructure:
    Required: experience working in rail infrastructure
    Preferred: Certificate III in Rail Infrastructure or similar
  • For Rail Signalling:
    Required: experience working in rail signalling
    Preferred: Certificate IV in Electrical Rail Signalling
  • For Surveying:
    Required:
    5 years’ experience working as a survey or
    Preferred: Diploma in Surveying or similar, experience working as a surveyor in construction or resources sectors

There is a minimum qualification required to deliver accredited vocational education and training (VET) as defined by the Registration Standards 2025 (2025 Standards), or its successors. The current minimum qualification required is the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122, TAE40116, or TAE40110), or a secondary teaching qualification with an Assessor Skill Set (TAESS00011, TAESS00019, or TAESS00024).

Applicants who do not yet hold the minimum required VET credentials are still eligible to apply, however North Metro TAFE will require the successful candidate to be enrolled, and have commenced training in, an approved training and assessment credential and record satisfactory progress to enable the credential to be completed within two years from commencement.
