The Metropolitan Cemeteries Board (MCB) are the caretakers of Perth’s cemeteries, entrusted to commemorate the lives of Western Australians now and into the future.  We respectfully help family and friends honour the lives of loved ones and safeguard memories for future generations.

We have one permanent full-time position available for an experienced Team Leader Crematorium at Pinnaroo Valley Memorial Park. There is one fixed-term full time position available at Fremantle.

About you

  1. Completion of Certificate II Funeral Operations, or other relevant qualification, and relevant experience.
  2. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership by training, mentoring, and supervising a small team.
  3. Proven ability to identify and resolve routine operational issues while supporting the implementation of safe systems of work.
  4. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate respectfully with a variety of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
  5. Competency in computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office applications.

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate person who is keen to provide a seamless and high-quality service to clients in our beautiful cemeteries. 

The Crematorium Team Leader will be responsible for:

  • Supervision of a small team of Cemetery Workers (Crematorium) and the participation in the day-to-day delivery of crematorium services.
  • Operate and maintain relevant equipment (e.g. cremators and trolleys), ensuring crematorium work floor and associated equipment cleaning duties are performed according to the required schedule.
  • Prepares, maintains and audits cremation and memorial records and updates schedules and workflows accurately in Cemetery Records System (CRS)
  • In conjunction with Crematorium Coordinator, assists in the coordination and delivery of on-the-job training for employees, including training in relation to workers health and safety in the Crematorium.
  • Assists with the formal site induction training of new employees.
  • Assists in the resolution of public enquiries and complaints, and reports matters where appropriate to the Manager Operations and Crematorium Coordinator.
  • Liaise with internal MCB stakeholders (Booking Consultants, Memorial Services Officer) and external stakeholders (funeral directors), where required.
  • Assists with the review and development of crematorium policies, practices, and procedures.
