About Us

Westport is a transformational program that offers a rare opportunity for progressive and impactful large-scale infrastructure planning. Part of the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure, the Westport Office is responsible for delivering a diverse program of works that will:

  • Scale up WA’s trade capabilities for the next century.
  • Enable larger, more efficient vessels that Fremantle Port cannot accommodate.
  • Increase the share of rail freight, reducing road congestion and emissions.
  • Include an innovative port design informed by Cockburn Sound marine environment science.
  • Enable the transformation of Fremantle Port into vibrant mixed-use communities.
  • Generate thousands of jobs during construction and operations.
  • Encourage growth within the Kwinana Industrial Area and Western Trade Coast.

Westport will be delivered by over eight major infrastructure projects, and a raft of non-infrastructure commercial, environmental, planning, reform and strategy implementation programs, all integrating to realise meaningful benefits for Australia and to deliver a legacy of innovation and improvement in infrastructure delivery in WA.

The Opportunity:

Westport are seeking a strategic and future‑focused Manager of Digital Engineering to shape and lead the digital foundations of one of Western Australia’s most significant and transformational infrastructure programs. As the State moves toward delivering a world‑class container port and freight network for the next century, this role plays a pivotal part in ensuring the digital deliverables that underpin the program are fit-for-purpose, integrated, and built for long‑term value.

In this once‑in‑a‑career opportunity, you will drive the development and implementation of a unified Digital Engineering approach, bringing together graphical and non‑graphical data, models, systems and information in a way that elevates planning, design, delivery, commissioning, and asset management outcomes across the program. You will work at the intersection of people, policy, process and technology, enabling best practice, innovation and consistency across a diverse portfolio of projects.

The role offers the chance to influence major decision‑making, partner with leading experts across engineering, sustainability and transport, and embed digital excellence into a program that will shape Western Australia's economic and environmental future for generations.

 Your impact will be through:

  • Developing and leading Westport’s Digital Engineering strategy, ensuring a unified, best‑practice approach to digital information, modelling, and data integration across the entire program including integration with geospatial technologies.
  • Embedding consistent, efficient digital design and delivery processes, including the implementation of systems, standards and frameworks that support high‑quality project outcomes.
  • Building organisational capability, providing expert advice, documentation and training that uplift Digital Engineering maturity across teams and stakeholders.
  • Ensuring quality and compliance, overseeing assurance, audits, and risk management for digital information and asset data to support confident, evidence‑based decision making.
  • Driving innovation and continuous improvement, identifying emerging technologies, trends and opportunities that enhance digital design, information management and future‑focused capability (including digital twin potential).
  • Engaging and influencing stakeholders, collaborating across internal teams, industry partners and experts to shape and refine Digital Engineering requirements, solutions and performance.

 What sets you apart:

  • Extensive experience in Digital Engineering, data environments, and developing/documenting digital information frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of digital design, documentation, procurement, and the application of digital technologies in planning and construction management.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate, negotiate and build effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Proven capability to lead and work within project teams while maintaining focus on program goals and promoting a positive team environment.
  • Highly developed conceptual and analytical skills, with demonstrated initiative and innovative problem‑solving ability.
  • Strong industry knowledge across Information Management, Design Management, BIM processes and the development of Digital Twins (Desirable)
  • A relevant qualification in a related field, or progress toward one (Desirable).

There is currently one (1) full time, fixed term appointment contract up to 30 June 2028 with the possibility of extensions and/or permanency available for immediate start.
