Position
Profile:
The Board Assurance and
Health Executive Service team in the System-wide Governance and
Assurance Directorate is responsible for managing recruitment and
appointment to, as well as relevant policy advice and assurance
functions for, the health service provider boards. The team also
manages appointments for a large portfolio of other statutory
boards and committees, including the WA boards of two Australian
health practitioner national boards.
The team also leads the
ongoing governance and management of the Health Executive Service,
including contract development and advice on behalf of the System
Manager in accordance with policy and the Health Services Act
2016.
The team delivers these
functions in a fast paced and collaborative team
environment.
The Principal Policy Officer
is a senior member of the team and is responsible for providing
strategic policy and governance advice and support to health
service provider boards. The position leads, coordinates and
undertakes the development, implementation and evaluation of
governance and assurance policies, protocols, guidelines and
initiatives, as well as developing and maintaining effective
strategic networks and relationships with other divisions, health
service providers, health service provider boards and external
agencies.
Should you be successful, on
a daily basis you will exercise a range of skills - initiative,
critical thinking, problem solving and superior communication and
operate with a reasonable level of autonomy. You will be required
to work effectively and collaboratively with other areas of the
Department of Health and other stakeholders. The role will provide
opportunities for growth and development of your leadership skills,
including supervision of staff, and assisting the Manager
with more complex matters.

Eligibility to
Apply: To be eligible for appointment, applicants
must have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be
an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live
and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent
appointments).
Other
Conditions: WA Health engages staff in
positions of trust and responsibility. WA Health policies require
applicants to undertake a criminal records screening and integrity
checking as part of the appointment process. As well as undertaking
a criminal record screening and integrity checking, you may also be
required to undertake a working with children check (if required
for the role) and a pre-employment health assessment. We may ask
