About to Role

We are seeking a Pavements Manager to join our Materials Engineering team. The role provides expert technical advice and ensures the effective implementation of Main Roads Materials Engineering standards, guidelines, specifications, methods and processes for the design, construction and maintenance of pavements across Western Australia.

In this role, you will coordinate and manage geotechnical and materials engineering teams to deliver expert technical advice on ground conditions, slope stability, bridge foundations, pavement design, materials science, and pavement and surfacing treatments. The work ranges from providing strategic geotechnical and pavement advice to inform the planning of future road infrastructure requirements, through to design review and technical advice to support quality standards in project delivery, investigation and analysis of pavement failures, and selection of appropriate treatments.

The role also includes managing research and development of new and alternative products and technologies and leading the development and implementation of updates to guidelines and specifications to support the adoption of appropriate innovations and sustainable materials that offer whole of life cycle benefits.

You will build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including the materials supply industry, geotechnical design consultants, the road infrastructure construction and maintenance industry, contract and project management teams, and Main Roads asset management, technical services and project delivery managers.

The successful candidate will have a keen interest in understanding materials behaviour, be able to foster collaboration and teamwork, and play a proactive role as part of Main Roads’ materials engineering leadership team.
