Senior Youth Bail Support Worker

This pool recruitment process will be used to fill permanent, fixed term, full time and part time vacancies that may arise over a period of 12 months from the date of finalisation of the recruitment process. Fixed term appointments may be made with the possibility of extension/s and/or permanency. There is currently one full time vacancy available from 1 January 2026 – 30 June 2026.

Please note, this recruitment process may be used to fill similar positions for other programs, including bail support and youth justice focused programs. Whilst the position is for a Senior Youth Bail Support Worker, we strongly encourage people with skills and experience providing case management and support to people living with disability (including mental health disability) to apply.

About the role

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for an experienced professional with a commitment to social justice to contribute to the delivery of Legal Aid Western Australia’s DARDY and Youth Bail Services. These services provide assistance to Legal Aid WA clients who are under 25 years old and involved in the criminal justice system.  

The Senior Youth Bail Support worker case manages young people who are facing complex legal and non-legal issues while they are accessing Legal Aid WA legal services. They liaise with legal teams throughout Legal Aid WA, assess clients support and treatment needs, link clients to support services and programs, and provide practical assistance to help clients achieve equitable access to justice.

The Senior Youth Bail Support Worker provides supervision to the social support staff working with young people in the criminal justice system, as well as directly providing complex case management to young people involved in DARDY and Youth Bail programs. It will also involve extensive stakeholder engagement, relationship building, and promotion of Youth Bail Support. The Senior Youth Bail Support Worker will also be responsible for the supervision of other Support Workers and undertake complex case management of high-risk clients. 

About you 

The role is best suited to a mature professional who has extensive experience working with young people 25 and under who have experienced housing instability, family breakdown, substance abuse, domestic violence, disability and mental health issues. The ideal candidate will also have a strong connection to the community and knowledge of local youth services. A social work qualification is not essential, but is highly regarded.
