We are seeking to establish a pool of casual Learning and Engagement Assistants to fill vacancies that arise within the next 12 months.

About the role

The Learning and Engagement Assistant’s role is to support the development and evaluation of high-quality public and education programs, experiences and resources relating to the WA Museum Boola Bardip. The Learning and Engagement Assistants assist in the facilitation of visitor experiences which enhance the Museum visit with a focus on preparation and delivery, as well as supporting other Museum staff and volunteers for the delivery of these experiences where necessary.  

About you

We’re seeking enthusiastic, engaging and organised individuals with education and facilitation experience.

You will need to have availability to deliver public programs during evenings, weekends, and school holidays starting from January 2026.

The successful applicant will be expected to: 

  • Learn, follow, and deliver public and educational and public programs as directed. 
  • Facilitate public programming events for a variety of audiences including families and young children in an engaging manner. This will include the set-up, delivery and pack down of event spaces and equipment within the Museum.

Eligibility to Apply

To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid Work Visa (for fixed term and casual appointments), or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments) at the time of application.

A current National Police Clearance Certificate (within six months) will be required prior to commencement of employment, as per the Department’s Police Record Screening Policy.

We also require the following:

  • A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC).

Selection Methodology

A variety of assessment methodologies may be used throughout the recruitment process, including:

  • Interview
  • Skills Assessment
  • Aptitude testing
  • Psychometric testing
  • Presentation
  • Referee Checks

Psychometric testing will be used to shortlist suitable applicants. 

Pool Recruitment

This Pool will be open for a period of 12 months from the day after the breach of standard claim period closes. This pool will be used to initially offer casual vacancies as they arise, however applicants deemed suitable to the pool may be offered a permanent, fixed term, full-time, part-time appointments as vacancies arise; however, an appointment is not guaranteed.  

Applicants found suitable in this Pool, may be considered for subsequent, similar vacancies with the WA Museum and the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport for the duration of the Pool.
